Housing crisis in Queensland

A quaint picture of the housing shortage casts a shadow over Queensland. Thousands of families and singles await their fate to be plucked from the waiting list of public housing tenants. The revealing picture was expected; there is an overwhelming demand for the supply.
A report about 87 families or singles competing for every subsidised house went viral in the market recently. The southeastern cities of Logan and Gold Coast are worse affected with the debilitating scenario.
Even the coal mining communities in Queensland are turning their heads on socialised housing waiting list. This has resulted from the skyrocketing rents in the state. Every 40 families or singles are on the queue for every single house available.
Queensland is seeing about 31,315 families and singles up in the waiting list. However, only 680 houses are to be filled.
Rents for just one property in the mining town of Moranbah alone shot to a record breaking $3800 a week. Farther south, rents have doubled in the past year.
With the current housing shortage, more people will be getting stressed, but a lot of them have opted out from signing up for the social housing scheme. They knew they would not make it on the list, neither they can be housed.
The Housing Ministry has already marked on the need for a major overhaul of the Queensland housing program. The rents from tenants can no longer cover the maintenance and administration costs neither there is sufficient money for the upgrade or building of new projects.
The current rental shortage amid high demand in dwellings in Queensland , is a sign of the times.
